Glossary of Audio / Visual Terminology
|
Although
this work is entitled "Glossary of Audio / Visual Terminology",
you will find a lot of terms referring to digital networks as well.
After all, we did tell you elsewhere in this site that the marriage
of audio/video with computers is not only inevitable but is upon
us today.
Our
thanks
to Rane Corporation
for inspiring this
glossary. The great majority of this glossary is original SHOWORKS
work. At the beginning of our website ( Circa 1997 ) one of
our contractors copied the Rain Glossary of Audio Terminology
and included it in whole on our website. This mistake went
unnoticed until 2001. Since then over 400 hours has been expended in
editing and re-writing these initial audio definitions
to improve their usefulness and clarity for our customers. In addition, SHOWORKS
has added a considerable volume of definitions in areas other than
audio. This work has included video and wireless definitions specifically relevant to presenters
and AV professionals. It may be possible, however,
that some of the audio definitions still bear a significant
resemblance to the original 1997 Rain Glossary. No reference
to the Rain Glossary has been make in researching this volume since
1997.
